Bark & Bambino Books is small publishing company founded by Shauna Marlowe in 2024 with the goal of helping children learn and practice safe behaviors with dogs.
Our Philosophy
At Bark & Bambino Books, we are committed to a world where children can be compassionate and knowledgeable canine friends, a world with reduced incidents of bites and injuries and fewer occurrences of rehoming loving companions. We know that reading to children enhances language skills and cognitive development and strengthens the emotional bond between parent and child. Embracing safe play with dogs comes down to the same concepts: understanding their language and building empathetic relationships. By tapping into the transformative power of stories, utilizing engaging illustrations, emphasizing real-life communication, and integrating personal experiences, we teach your little reader how to speak dog and play safely.

Author & Publisher
Shauna Marlowe is a children’s book author & publisher for Bark and Bambino Books. She jokes that she is not only a Mom to two boys, ages 3 and 1, but, also to two dogs, two cats, and two robot vacuums. She is a board-Certified Professional Animal Care Operator (CPACO), a certified canine pet care specialist, and is Fear Free Pets certified. In addition to over 7 years of experience in the dog care industry, she has a Master of Arts in Applied English Linguistics, education in teaching English to second language learners, and is an avid reader.

Illustrator
Angela Salerno is a professional illustrator, graphic designer, and art director. She enjoys combining design with illustration, playing with different fonts and compositions. She works in color, in black and white, or in a mixed way. She works by hand but enjoys using digital tools when applying color to accentuate emotionality. While currently a resident of Valencia, Spain, her interests in human issues, social problems, and the world that surrounds us, have led to a nomadic life exploring numerous countries and their cultures.
